The Green Guerillas Council of Gardeners is calling on New York City leadership to establish meaningful pathways for community gardener engagement within the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.
For more than 50 years, community gardeners have transformed vacant lots into thriving green spaces that serve as hubs for food access, youth development, environmental stewardship, and intergenerational leadership. Despite their longstanding impact, gardeners were not included in the Parks & Recreation Transition Committee at the start of the new administration.
Through this sign-on, we urge Mayor Zohran Mamdani to create advisory bodies, listening sessions, and transparent decision-making processes that ensure community gardeners have a seat at the table.
Add your name to stand in support of equitable investment in community gardens, youth empowerment programs, food access initiatives, and inclusive governance for New York City’s green spaces.
